Anne Allison, Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Duke University, works on issues pertaining to late capitalist Japan. Her books include Nightwork: Sexuality, Pleasure, and Corporate Masculinity in a Tokyo Hostess Club (Chicago, 1994) and Precarious Japan (Duke, 2013). She is currently working on new trends in dying and death in Japan against demographic and lifestyle shifts to a population increasingly living and dying alone.
