BIO: Julie Livingston is Professor of History and Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University. She is the author of Improvising Medicine: An African Oncology Ward in an Emerging Cancer Epidemic (Duke U Press), and Debility and the Moral Imagination in Botswana (Indiana U Press)
