The Prince Claus Fund commissioned artist Fernando Arias to make a short film and performance about the Principal Laureate Abel Rodriguez at the awards ceremony at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam in 2014. The performance, with music by two Colombian musicians, combined traditional indigenous instruments and electronic rhythms. Together with the chants of Abel Rodriguez they created a spectacular accompaniment to Arias’s film. To produce the film, Arias and Rodriguez worked together in Bogotá followed by a week filming in the Amazon region.
This film was shown at the opening session of the Environmental | Art | Humanities conference, March 31-April 2, 2016.
