This Humanities Futures colloquium opened with the projection of Steve Mim’s 2016 documentary “Starving the Beast: The Battle to Disrupt and Reform America’s Public Universities” and continued with a round-table discussion on the new pressures being exerted on both public and private universities, in the US and in Brazil. This event is part of an ongoing series of colloquia exploring the future of humanities and the economics of universities today. Commentary was given by NC State University’s Educational Leadership Interim Department Head Lance Fusarelli, and Duke University Professor of History John French.
